REACH FOR SHINE brings together distinctive voices that use the vulnerability of flowers as a conduit for the personal, touching on themes such as family histories, loss, joy, peace, remembrance, home, connection, and loneliness. These unique artistic narratives give us a tender reminder that nature can reflect our most delicate parts of ourselves through growth and blooming. Marsh Lab at my studio in Venice, California. Right now, I am exploring bee vision with ultraviolet-light-sensitive cameras and high-speed recordings. Stay tuned!
Halina Kliem 👁👁 on Instagram: "𖠑𖠒 ꙮ 𖠑𖠒𖤜 ꙮ 𖠑𖠒 𖤜 Each creature sees the world differently. Did you know that bees can’t see red but can spot ultraviolet light? Imagine if we could simulate their vision! I tried to recreate that by making UV light look purple and toning down the red. This UV light reveals pollen spots, guiding bees to food. So, purple flowers appear extra appealing to them. With their compound eyes and unique UV vision, bees are nature’s expert navigators, finding food with ease. #modesofvision #fieldofview #ultravioletlight #bees #lasturbanwetland #losangeles #climatecare #film #outtakes"

Inside Ballona/Waachnga travels to the Climate Care Festival Critterkratia at Floating University Berlin (Germany). September 21 - 30, 2023. Curated by Gilly Karjevski and Rosario Talevi
Climate Care 2023 • FLOATING BERLIN
Climate Care is a festival engaged with theory and practice at the intersection of climate challenges, ethics of care and environmental humanities. Emerging from weathering the conditions of its site – a rainwater retention basin in Berlin – the programme is a result of in-depth cohabitation with the constructed water infrastructure, its human culture and its multi-species overlays.
